Sam's Baptism

I can't believe Sam is 8!  I'm so proud of his choice to be baptized.  He is a great kid with a lot of spunk.  He asked his Uncle Joey to baptize him.  It was a fun weekend with family.  We're so grateful that most of my family was able to come up to support Sam in his decision to be baptized.  His Aunt Kristy is in NY so that was a bit of a journey, but we missed her.  The kids loved all the cousin and grandparent time.  Friday night started with a night at the pool and then just hanging out in the hotel for a while.  On Saturday morning Sam was baptized then we headed to our house for lunch.  The kids played and the adults visited. Totally low key.  It was great! Then we headed to the dairy for some yummy ice cream.  Unfortunately, the everyone had to head back to Utah but we had fun while they were here and are always anxiously awaiting the next trip to Utah to see everyone.  I'm thankful for their willingness to drive up here for the weekend.  We're especially thankful for modern technology that allowed Steve's parents, who are serving a mission in Arizona, and his sister, who was unable to come up due to choir concerts, to be able to watch Sam be baptized.  Thank you all for the love and support you showed to Sam on his special day!

And She's Off!

I love this little girl!  She is so much fun.  I love how proud she is.  She still claps for herself every time she walks...and every time she squats down and stands up again.  What a fun age this is!

Family Update

Have I mentioned how much I love that Steve is into photography?  We were horrible about getting family pictures taken until he started doing it himself.  Now we've done them 2 years in a row.  That may not seem like a big deal but for us it's pretty amazing.

Chris- 12
Chris survived his first quarter of Middle School!  He is doing really well and has made several new friends.  He still enjoys playing his cello and has already had his first concert.  He wants to try out for the school basketball team so he's been working on his ball handling skills when he has a few spare minutes.  He's also keeping busy with boy scouts and has enjoyed all the campouts and activities that come with it.
Garrett- 4
Garrett is anxiously waiting for his turn to go to kindergarten.  We have been working on letters, numbers, shapes and writing.  He was so proud of himself when he learned how to spell his name.  This kid is a little sponge.  I love it!  He loves playing with his guys, which usually consists of the Toy Story crew along with some super heros and animals.  He has quite the imagination.  Becca loves playing with him and he loves his baby sister.
Sam- 6
Sam played soccer this fall and enjoyed it but has decided he wants to try flag football next year.  He started 1st grade and has loved it so far.  He enjoys reading and is really good at it.  This kid had Steve and I out smarted when he was 3!  He loves all the technology gadgets and knows how to navigate things better than I do.
Kira- 11
Kira loves having a sister.  She is a little mommy and a great helper.  She played soccer for the first time and really enjoyed it.  At first she was nervous about it since she had never played and all the other girls have but she picked it up fast and surprised me with how aggressive she was out there.  It helped that she knew a few of the girls on the team and became friends with the other girls quickly.  She also started playing the violin.  So far she's enjoyed it.  It'll be fun for me when she and Chris can play together!
Becca- 9 months
We have loved having this spunky, personality-packed little girl in our family.  We enjoy seeing her personality emerge more and more everyday.  She's crawling around and into everything and pulling herself up next to anything she can.  She has 3 teeth and loves food.  She also loves to sing, dance and give kisses.  We're trying to teach her basic sign language but I'm not doing as well with her as I did with the others.  She will sign "more" but it looks more like she clapping than signing anything.  She has everyone wrapped around her little fingers...and I think she knows it.
Spencer- 9
Spencer played his first year of tackle football.  He said he liked playing but isn't sure if he wants to play again next year because it's so time consuming.  He is our sporty kid, any sport will do.  He loves hanging out with friends and enjoys cub scouts.  This kid has some great dance moves and facial expressions.  He's always cracking me up.  He works hard and is still a bit of a perfectionist.

I love that each of these kiddos is so different and that they are able to learn and grow from each other.  However, I'm sure I'm the one that's learning and growing the most.  They are true blessings!

1st Day of School

I can't believe the summer is over and these kiddos are back in school.  What's even harder to believe is that I have a kid in middle school- Yikes!   I think I had a harder time sending Chris to 7th grade than I did sending him to kindergarten :)

7th Grade

 6th Grade

 4th Grade

1st Grade

These 2 get to hang out with me this year.  Garrett gets to enjoy one more year at home and is excited to have more mommy time.  He also liked sleeping in and getting to stay in his pjs.   Becca's a long way off from school but she's getting so big.  She just got her second tooth and loves chomping on anything in her path.

Week In Utah

Every summer the kids get to spend a week with Grandma and Grandpa Anderson.  They love it! It's tradition for the kids to go fishing and go get hawaiian ice.  This year they also got to go watch Monster University at the theater, they went to the splash pad and had a water party with cousins, had a couple movie nights with cousins, went shopping with grandma and grandpa and went to the Pioneer Day parade in Spanish Fork.  This year the parade was a little more special because Joey and Chris got to be in it.  They marched as the Army of Helaman.  There were actually about 2,600 boys in the group.  They dressed up and carried staffs that they got to decorate.  Unfortunately, Steve and I missed it but we saw a video of it and heard how great it was from everyone.  I'm so glad that Chris got to participate in it and hopefully that made the story of the stripling warriors a little more real for him.

Day with Aunt Steph!

My kids love Day with Aunt Steph.  They look forward to it every summer.

This year they got to go out to lunch, play at the splash pad, enjoy the chocolate fountain and had a Monsters, Inc.  movie party!  We love Aunt Steph!!!
